Housewife Doused With Pepper In Private Part: Ejigbo Council Chairman Confirms Incident… Promises Justice-The Chairman of Ejigbo Local Govt Council, Comrade Kehinde Bamigbetan has reacted to a video of two women whose private parts were inserted with a bottle of pepper after allegation of stealing pepper from a local market.
Mr Bamigbetan promised that the women were being traced in order for the police to extract more information about the gang so that the case would be investigated further
The two women were also mercilessly beaten with a horse whip and hot pepper powder doused on their body, eyes and breast while they ( the women) pleaded for mercy and pardon and for their life to be spared from being killed.
It has now been confirmed that the incident happened in Ejigbo in the Ejigbo local government area of Lagos State last February after the two women were caught stealing pepper from the central market, Iyana Ejigbo in Ejigbo Local Council Development Area of Lagos State.
The Council Chairman confirmed that the incident happened in the Local government area last February. In the video some men were recorded exerting jungle justice to the two women, beating them mercilessly after stripping them naked, and torturing them with pepper powder spread all over their body. The men inserted a bottle of powdered pepper and long stick into their private parts as the women screamed and pleaded for pardon.
According to a statement issued by the Local Government Chairman, the pepper sellers normally leave their goods in their stalls at the market overnight with security men known as vigilante on watch over the stalls.
The market women according to Bamigbetan returned the next day to discover that their goods were being stolen from the stalls. They reported this to the vigilante they hired to secure the market.
About 6am in one of the days in February, the two women were allegedly caught stealing pepper from the same stalls . They were arrested and identified as a house-wife and her step-daughter who were living close to the market with the husband, a wine professional tapper.
After the barbaric torture, which the local government Chairman was aware of, the two women confessed to stealing the pepper and were let go. Nothing was said about their condition after the incident.
Police Commissioner Yakubu Alkali, Lagos Police Commissioner
However, a few members of the vigilante feared that the report of the torture may spread and informed the leadership of the vigilante group who were allegedly penalized and the gang who tortured the women disbanded. He said the scene of the theatre where the vigilante gang were carrying out their terror was then converted to shops and rented out.
Kehinde Bamigbetan said the released video has given the local government much concern and it has been reviewed by the Divisional Police Officer of the area with both of them much bothered by the impact on the time lags as it is now over nine months on investigation.
He said the time actually has explained the initial denials by the stakeholders in the video.
“We are working on getting the wine tapper to trace his wife and daughter involved if he has not relocated from Ejigbo area”, he concluded.
Comrade Bamigbetan, also the former Press Secretary to former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Ahmed Tinubu was himself a victim of the underworld men as he was kidnapped last April as he was about to enter his residence after closing from office on April 16 this year. And informed the leadership of the vigilante group. Those involved were allegedly penalized and the gang disbanded.
The scene was then converted to shops and rented out. I have reviewed these with the DPO and both of us are bothered by the impact of the time lag of over nine months on investigation. This may also explain the initial denials by the stakeholders.
